Fayette County's highly ranked school system, friendly communities and wide ranging recreational activities have combined to make it one of the nation's fastest growing counties. The county was listed in the Wall Street Journal as one of the best places to do business in the country and chosen by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution as the most livable county in Georgia.

Fayette, one of Georgia's smaller counties in terms of land area, combines traditional roots and rural beauty with modern amenities and conveniences. The county was formed in 1821 from Creek Indian territory and named for the Marquis de LaFayette, one of General George Washington's commanders during the Revolutionary War. Located 20 miles south of the city of Atlanta and 15 miles from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Fayette County is strategically located in proximity to Interstates 75, 85, and 285, making the county a prime location for national and multi-national corporations.
